Handmade Irish Crafts - Ireland's 'Craft Trail'

At Blanchville House you are at the centre of Ireland's 'Craft Trail' with a wealth of high quality handmade Irish Crafts available at numerous outlets including the famous Kilkenny Design Centre.

Kilkenny Design Centre
Ireland has a strong tradition of crafts with handknitting, basket weaving, pottery, silver and goldsmithing all being skills that have been successfully handed down over hundreds of years. At Kilkenny Design Centre you will find the largest selection of crafts in Ireland all beautifully displayed in a very unique setting.

Stoneware Jackson Pottery
A range of ware is produced, from large platters with generous rims and soft profiled handles, to bold table lamps with hand painted shades. The pots are entirely made by hand on the potters wheel and are glazed with colours and textures that bring out the tactile qualities of the wet clay.

Jerpoint Glass Studio
Tucked away on a country lane, is the studio of one of Ireland's best-known contemporary glassmakers - some of his pieces have a delicate pink or lavender cast whilst others are as clear as ice.

A&S Heraldics
Specialists in producing plaques that are Hand Painted in full colour on the rear of glass, for protection, which are then mounted on Mahogany style timber. All the Coats of Arms are based on old heraldic descriptions recorded in ancient manuscripts and reference books.

Nicholas Mosse Pottery
The spongeware tradition in ceramics is ancient and can be found anywhere pottery flourishes. Animals and flowers are set against geometric repeat borers in delicious blues, browns, greens and reds on a soft white background. Careful throwing and delicate details give the pottery an unusually light and elegant appeal. Pottery includes a display area and tea rooms.

Padmore & Barnes
Hand-crafted Wallabees Shoes - in addition to the people directly employed at their Kilkenny based plant, hundreds of people in the surrounding areas are employed part time, handstitching the shoes in their own homes, continuing an age old tradition in Ireland.

Rudolf Heltzel
Gold, Silver & precious stones worked into contemporary jewellery.

The Bridge Pottery
Located in Chapel Street, Bennettsbridge this delightful outlet specialises in selling hand-painted pottery.
